The truth is that fundraising is hard. Most people try and fail, no matter how great their preparation, their perseverance, or their idea. That's because there are far more people looking for capital than there are people writing checks. It also takes time and knowledge to find the right capital source that makes sense for your business and to craft the perfect pitch.
As your business evolves, you may move from simple forms of capital like credit cards and personal savings, to more complicated sources, like angel investors or commercial loans. To pursue these more complex sources of funding, you need to prepare.
First, it is important to understand the fundamentals of fundraising in order to set reasonable expectations. Second, you need to understand the funding landscape so that you can find the right investor. Finally, you need to understand how the pitch process works and craft the perfect pitch.
Join us as Jason Rottenberg and Jennifer Dunham of Arsenal Venture Partners, share their insights and experience on how to raise money, from an investor's perspective. A Managing Partner at Arsenal Ventures, Jason has spent the last dozen years founding, building and funding early stage companies. In her role as Operating Principal, Jennifer provides early-stage operation support to portfolio companies.

The Grant Program will offer "Office Hours" on an as-requested basis from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the same location. Office Hours will be work sessions where you can evaluate whether your business idea is suitable for outside investment or a candidate for a Florida IDEA Grant.
