Take Action Now - Your Help is Needed on Workers’ Comp

The workers’ compensation reform conversation is heating up at the Florida Capitol. We need your help to ensure our workers’ comp system is fair and not inflated by trial lawyer tactics and other unnecessary expenses to help lower your cost of doing business in Florida.

You can help by doing the following today:

  1. Sign and return the attached Florida Chamber Workers’ Comp Task Force resolution, and
  2. Share the below video with your employees, elected officials and others, to help educate them about what’s happening and the impact it could have on your business.

Yesterday, the workers’ comp conversation continued at the Florida House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee with a second panel discussion. Unfortunately, yesterday’s topic was not focused on solving the underlying problem created by the Florida Supreme Court, which declared portions of Florida’s workers’ comp system unconstitutional last year, a decision that resulted in a 14.5 percent increase for every Florida business. The main focus going into the legislative session should be fixing the attorney fee provision, which resulted in two-thirds of the current rate increase.

The Florida Chamber is focused on bringing stability to the system, reining in runaway costs that only benefit trial lawyers – not injured workers – and ensuring our employees are able to get the high quality care they need to get back to work as soon as possible.

Please take a moment to review, sign and return the attached resolution and watch our latest FloridaWins.org employer-to-employee workers’ comp video and share it with your staff.
