Jacob Stuart Heads to Tallahassee
Florida Chamber 2017 International Days

Jacob V. Stuart, President of the Central Florida Partnership, heads to Tallahassee this week along with other notable leaders to be part of the program of the Florida Chamber’s 2017 International Days, scheduled for February 14-15, 2017. It is important for the Partnership to be ‘at the table’ for these discussions based on the recent work of the Central Florida International Business Task Force.

From Local to Global - Expanding international business opportunities begins locally.  From supporting new to export or new to market businesses, to encouraging international companies to invest in your region – this panel will explore strategies to consider adding to your international trade tool kit, including:

  • Foreign Direct Investment
  • Export Financing
  • International Expansion/Trade Network Development

Stuart will be included on this Strategy Panel that will also include:

  • Alice Ancona, Director, Global Outreach, Florida Chamber of Commerce (Moderator)
  • Dr. Mark Rosenberg, President, Florida International University
  • The Honorable Bill Galvano, Florida Senate

As background, the Central Florida International Business Task Force, commissioned by the Central Florida Partnership Board of Directors, closed-out its 2015 assignment with a call for regional teamwork around five objectives to accelerate participation in global commerce. They confirmed the need for rigorous commitments to “trade literacy” for two sets of stakeholders: regional leaders in all sectors, and decision-makers in export-ready companies of all scales and sizes. The team identified constructive steps to improve civic alignment around metrics, culture, and high quality support services for potential exporters.

The Task Force also called for a region-wide coalition of support of international student engagement, cultural literacy, and career development in import/export-driving skills. On their own initiative, members also prepared a set of Critical Questions to guide the region, and its inter-jurisdictional relationships, as it takes on a new scale of work.

Yolanda Londoño, Chair - Central Florida International Business Task Force and Vice President, Global Social Responsibility - Tupperware Brands Corporation, recently presented the Task Force report to the community, Collective Engagement and Success for Our Region: Acceleration of Participation in Global Commerce.

Central Florida Partnership - Ideas to Results
The Central Florida Partnership is a collaborative of business and civic leaders committed to building a better tomorrow for Central Florida's seven counties - Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia. We are thoughtful leaders united by a single, guiding principle - that we have both the power and the responsibility to make change happen.

Working together, through four lines of business – Orlando, Inc. (Regional Entrepreneurship), BusinessForce (Regional Public Policy Advocacy), myregion.org (Regional Research & Resolves) and Leadership Orlando (Regional Leadership) – the Central Florida Partnership is moving “Ideas to Results.”
