After recently winning reelection with a 30% margin, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer visited with the Boards of Directors of the Central Florida Partnership and Orlando, Inc., last week. A round of congratulatory toasts by Board Members at their meetings on Wednesday and Thursday served as a tribute to his leadership during the last eight years, and continued confidence in his direction for the next four years.
To the Partnership's Board Members, Mayor Dyer expressed his appreciation for their steadfast support of regional initiatives like Project Hometown which helped to advance the Community Venues that include the new Amway Center, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts now under construction, and the proposed $175 million renovation to the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.
He acknowledged the Partnership's leadership role in advancing SunRail, High Speed Rail for Florida, and its collaboration with leaders in the public, private and civic sectors to garner success on statewide issues like "Vote No on 4" and "No Casinos for Florida," ultimately protecting Central Florida's prosperity and quality of life. Encouraging the members of the Board to continue to be the 30% who keep issues important to our region at the forefront, we will remain a community that polls reveal is on the "right track" for our collective future.
