Nearly 100 Chamber Members and guests heard Alex Sanchez, President and CEO of the Florida Bankers Association, discuss the current banking situation and what has happened to banks in the last several months. In giving a history of the industry and its regulations, Mr. Sanchez emphasized that banks are part of the community they are in, are guided by strict regulations and have reputations that they want to protect . . . and should not be confused with the mortgage industry demise. He also pointed out that, contrary to popular belief, 90% of all mortgages in America are paid on time.
