GrowFL Second-Stage CEO Summit In line with the mission of Orlando, Inc. (Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce) to connect the entrepreneur to success by advancing an agenda of business innovation and growth, CEO’s from diverse industries throughout Central Florida recently participated in the first-ever Second Stage CEO Summit to help them discover the people and resources needed to help their businesses thrive.
The unique event format, presented by GrowFL in partnership with CEO Nexus, Florida High Tech Corridor Council, Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission Orlando, Inc., Rollins College Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship and the University of Central Florida, was based on the new entrepreneurial strategy of economic gardening. This strategy is designed to help find and nurture the people leading homegrown, second-stage companies with potential to become powerhouses of Central Florida’s economy.
After second stage CEO’s were identified, they then underwent a short interview process to prepare for the event including compiling a list of top five companies they wanted to do business with. From this information, liaisons were assigned to make connections between the CEO and the prospect. Other highlights of the event included one-on-one matchmaking sessions, fast-pitch presentations, an expo and other direct-connect opportunities.
Several Orlando, Inc. (Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce) Board Members played a part in the program including Waymon Armstrong, President, Engineering and Computer Simulations, Pete McAlindon, Founder, Blue Orb, Inc., Steve R. Quello, President, CEO Nexus, and Richard Sweat, President/CEO, .decimal. This event, a first-of-its-kind, will be replicated across Florida, and will be shared as a best practice model for the entire nation.
